Ninth Conferment Ceremony of the University of Oulu in May 2013

The ninth conferment ceremony, jointly by all the faculties of the University of Oulu will be held 17–19 May 2013. The ceremony is the biggest and the most traditional academic ceremony of the University. It is held for ceremonial conferring of degrees on honorary doctors and young doctors.

The ceremonies include the Sharpening of the Sword (or Sword whetting) on Friday 17 May, the Doctoral conferment ceremony, Procession to the Oulu Cathedral, Service in the Cathedral, and Conferment Banquet and ball on Saturday 18 May, and a Sailing trip for all participants on Sunday 19 May.

The conferement ceremony is open for all who have received their doctoral degree in the University of Oulu, but have not been conferred before. Registration is now open. The previous conferement ceremony in 2009 saw 231 young doctors and 21 honorary doctors conferred.
