First results of the MEVICO project already transferred into products
Research cooperation conducted in the University of Oulu was honoured, as MEVICO project received the Celtic Excellence Award in Silver for its important achievements and high impact on future business.
The Department of Communications Engineering research unit CWC (Centre for Wireless Communications) has been one of the partners. The outcome of the project includes six new products and ten product improvements.
CWC team led by Professor Andrei Gurtov and Project Manager Jani Pellikka contributed to development of security protocols, load balancing issues and performance evaluation.
The Celtic Core Group congratulated MEVICO for excellent performance that produced outstanding results with a strong international impact in shaping the technology choices and standards for the fourth generation (4G) wireless communication technologies. This new technology with huge market potential is expected to strengthen the strong position of the European industry in telecommunications field.
MEVICO started its activities in 2010. CWC was one of the 23 organisations from 8 countries participating in this 15.3 million euro project. In addition to the CWC, the Finnish project partners included Nokia Siemens Networks, Aalto University and NetHawk. In Finland the project was financed by Tekes.
