The Oulu Innovation Alliance (OIA) seeks to strengthen Oulu as an international urban area, the fastest growing in the Nordic countries, which is a top spot for business growth and new openings. The strategic agreement of eight partners focuses the research, development and innovation activities in Oulu into five ecosystems, which will take Oulu to the world top:
- Attractive Nordic city
- Industry 2026
- ICT and digitalization
- Agile commercialization
The University of Oulu leads the operation of the ecosystem Industry 2026. The Centre for Health and Technology CHT coordinates research, development and innovation activities in the OuluHealth ecosystem. The Martti Ahtisaari Institute of Global Business and Economics MAI, responsible for international business research and education, is a strong actor in the ecosystem Agile commercialization.
OIA is made by the University of Oulu, the City of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences, the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT), Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District, The Oulu Region Joint Authority for Education, Natural Resources Institute Finland, and Technopolis Oyj.
Centre for Measurement and Information Systems CEMIS is a contract-based joint centre of the Universities of Oulu and Jyväskylä, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. and CSC - IT Centre for Science Ltd.
