KNL Networks raises 9.3 million funding

KNL Networks (former Kyynel), a startup-company of University of Oulu, has developed a new wireless communication system which can be used in the most extreme and isolated locations on Earth. The system relies on shortwave radio transmissions, allowing data to be transmitted over thousands of kilometers. The technology has been used in ships.

The company raised 9.3 million funding round which is one of the biggest in this year. KNL Networks is based in Oulu and it has additional offices in Helsinki, Norway and UK.  

The company is based on research made at CWC (Centre for Wireless Communications). It was established 2011 and it has 23 employees.
