The Future Factory event for new students, organized in the University of Oulu in the beginning of this autumn semester, has been shortlisted for the international Reimagine Education Awards. The concept was added on the shortlist of 120 nominees from the total of 500 nominees.
The competition is for global awards are for innovative education pedagogies enhancing learning and employability. It is organized by the American Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and it involves QS, who are known for their university rankings.
The winners in the award categories will be published in a conference in Philadelphia on 5-6 December. In the conference, Future Factory will be represented by Rector for Education in the University of Oulu, Helka-Liisa Hentilä, and planner Paula Vaskuri.
The three-day Future Factory event was organized last year in August as part of orientation week for new students. Nearly 1200 new students participated, independently solving challenges of the future.
Future Factory was carried out in cooperation with Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund to honour Finland's independence.
