Institutions and practices of new literacies
INStitutions and PractIces of new liteRacES aims at interdisciplinary knowledge about new literacies, incl. novel methodologies, methods and tools, by integrating Information and Communication Studies, Educational Sciences, and Computer Science. The foci are on new literacy practices of institutions of media, schools, homes, the memory functions of society (libraries, archives, museums) and health care, and in citizens’ everyday lives and new ways of understanding the concept of literacies. The research groups are: Health Information Mastering investigating individuals´ information literacy and practices, Literacies and Empowered Communities examining changes in the public sphere related to media, Interactive Spaces designing context-aware systems for everyday environments and learning literacy, and New Literacies and Future School researching literacy pedagogy and practices in schools.
