Launch and co-creation event for new Oulu 5GTN services Dec 11

The new 5GTN Community service environment will opened to companies in Oulu on 11 December.

The program of the kick-off will be updated on 5G Test Network site, with the event's live streaming. The event takes place at 12:30 PM in the main building Saalasti Hall, Linnanmaa, University of Oulu.
The Oulu 5GTN will open a long-awaited mobile-based NB-IoT network that makes it possible to test the Internet of Things on mobile devices, which will give a good head-start to many. The 5GTN is built by the University of Oulu and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
“Now that the framework for the system has been created, it is time to develop applications enabled by 5G. The campus network of 5GTN enables the piloting of novel 5G products and business models in a real 5G-network. The test network offers excellent possibilities for the whole university community as a multidisciplinary collection and processing platform for research data. For instance the concept of digital campus will be boosted through the connections enabled by the 5G network”, portrays Academy Professor Matti Latva-aho from the Centre for Wireless Communications at the University of Oulu

In future, 5GTN environment testing packages can be reserved as service products by joining the 5GTN Community, the practical benefits of which will be presented for companies at the service launch and co-creation event.
The purpose of the 5GTN Community is to support the new kind of business enabled by 5G. Services of entirely new kind must be built on the wireless technology of the future. Competition for exploiting the technology breakthroughs is intense in various industries. As the developer of 5G, Finland enjoys a competitive edge alongside major international players.
The service environment event will provide members of the 5GTN Community with an opportunity to get at the forefront of international trends. International 5GTN experts will support the companies’ experiments in the form of multidisciplinary co-creation.
