I am TK, studying Learning, Education and Technology (LET) at the University of Oulu. I will start with a quote from Augustine of Hippo: The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page. My desire to explore other cultures and meet new people made me search for study opportunities abroad. I ended up choosing the University of Oulu; Finland was my choice as for me, the country was the epitome of knowledge.

After arriving on the campus, I was able to start the journey towards fulfilling my aspirations. My studies are demanding yet fun. The lectures are intertwined with varying activities and coffee breaks make sure you are paying attention in class. Case examples are practical and represent real-life situations. Collaborative learning is appreciated and the learning environment supports and encourages collaboration among learners.

If you have a crazy idea and you wish to see it implemented, there are many facilities, such asĀ Tellus, Fablab, Demola or LeaForum to make sure that you can test your ideas. For aspiring entrepreneurs, there are entrepreneurship courses to boost your skills. As for connecting with other students, you can join the local Erasmus Student Network (ESN), AIESEC and other faculty or student organisations that offer lots of excitement and enjoyable activities.

I like the surrounding: The city of Oulu is beautiful with nature at your doorstep - certainly a nice landscape to catch a glimpse of the northern lights. A berry and mushroom picking session during the summer is a lovely activity. In winter, you definitely need to try skating and skiing. A sauna twice a week will absolutely make you relax and also, charge you for the studies. As for food, there are a whole lot of canteens with a wide selection even for the picky eater (and take my tip: don't forget to taste the salmon soup from any of the restaurants!).
