Bequeathing to the University of Oulu

A will directed to the University of Oulu may be directed either generally towards the activities of the university or focused on the development of a specific field of research or education.  The bequeathed assets can be added to the university’s investment capital, in which case the capital will remain untouched and only the capital gains will be used in the manner stated in the will.  In this way, the bequest will have an impact far into the future.  Bequeathed assets can also be allocated directly for the desired purpose. In this case, the donated amount is used in its entirety to carry out the donor’s wishes.

The University of Oulu as a recipient of bequests

As a non-profit organisation, the university does not need to pay inheritance tax or gift tax. As a result, we can use the full amount of the will donation to carry out the donor’s wishes. Wills directed to the University of Oulu can be drafted together with the university’s lawyer. Where needed, the university can also ensure there are the required witnesses for signing the will.  Every bequest to the University of Oulu is handled professionally and confidentially.

If you are considering or have already made the decision to support research and education at the University of Oulu through a bequest, you may contact directly the persons responsible for will-related matters.
