Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology
Faculty of Medicine

I am a university teacher and a PhD candidate in nursing science at the University of Oulu in the Research Unit of Nursing Science and Health Management. The purpose of my PhD thesis is to describe and evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile application intervention in preparing for pediatric day surgery, as compared with the effectiveness of the traditional preparing method when measuring fear and pain of preschool children along with anxiety and stress experienced by their parents. The aim is to produce new information and develop methods for preparing children for day surgery to make it more child and family oriented. By developing and testing new methods, increased attention can be paid to the characteristics of day surgery, family needs and support therein, as well as increasing families' customer involvement.

I am interested in the effects of digitalization on teaching and counceling from the perspective of the patient, the health care system and the provider of the application.
