Paula Alavesa

Games and gameplay have an ever-increasing impact in our society. While being mainly entertaining they can also help achieve and maintain behaviour change for better health, social confidence and learning.

Paula Alavesa is a postdoc researcher at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing in University of Oulu, Finland. She wrote her PhD "Playful appropriations of hybrid space : Combining virtual and physical environments in urban pervasive games" late 2018 at the University of Oulu, Finland. Her research focus is on combining physical, virtual and digital environments with gameplay, using location based mobile games. She is currently involved in research on virtual and augmented reality technologies for urban environments.
