Scholarship Fund of the University of Oulu

The purpose of the Scholarship Fund of the University of Oulu is to provide support to its students, primarily by granting scholarships for post-graduate studies and research.

Donations and estate assets donated through a will, trust or other donor directive may be given to the Scholarship Fund. New donations or estate assets are accepted to the Scholarship Fund by Board decision. The decision specifies the intended use of the assets being accepted and their relative share of the Scholarship Fund capital at the time of acceptance. Initial capital is distributed among the trust funds within the Fund. A trust fund may be named according to its intended use or the name of the benefactor. Scholarship Fund assets are kept separate from other University assets.

The monetary amount of grants awarded each year is determined based on the confirmed revenues reported in the financial statements of the previous year. Grants are always announced in an open call for applications. Grants are awarded based on a proposal made by the dean of each faculty.

Grants may remain unawarded on some years.

Application period: usually in the autumn.

Application procedure: Applications are to be submitted to the grant system.
