Research and interests:
My research interests lie in applying molecular tools to investigate ecology, evolutionary biology and biogeogprahy of mammals. In my current project, I harness ancient DNA methodology to study the evolutionary history of the moose (Alces alces) in Europe.
Profile and background:
I am a pupil of University of Oulu. I finished my Master's degree in 2011 and graduated as a PhD in December 2015 from the Department of Ecology. My PhD thesis dealt with genetic and phenotypic variation of the Fennoscandian moose population. Currently I work as a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Genetics & Physiology.
In my free time I like to go outdoors and enjoy nature in many different ways (hiking, birdwatching, hunting, fishing). In addition, I enjoy travelling, listening to good music, reading fine books and watching great movies
