My PhD research focuses on population genetics of wolverines (Gulo gulo). The first project aims to reveal the contemporary population structure and genetic diversity of Finnish wolverines. In addition, a framework for genetic monitoring of wolverines in Finland will be constructed. The second project aims to study genetic population structure on a wider Fennoscandian scale. The final third project aims to study the phylogeography and demographic history of wolverines on a Eurasian scale.

Profile and background:

I received in 2014 my bachelor’s certificate at the University of Groningen with as a major Ecology and Evolution. After that, I started in 2015 with the international Ecology and Genetics master’s program at the University of Oulu. I studied population structure, genetic diversity and the effective population size of wolverines in Finland for my master’s thesis.
