My PhD research focuses on conservation genetics of wolverines (Gulo gulo). The main topics of my PhD are:

  1. Objective is to study the contemporary population structure and genetic diversity of Finnish wolverines.
  2. Objective is to study the phylogeography and demographic history of Eurasian wolverines. Additional aim is to study the spatiotemporal distribution wolverine populations before, during and after the population bottleneck in Northern Europe
  3. Objective is to study gene flow in Fennoscandian wolverine populations.

Profile and background:

I received in 2014 my bachelor’s certificate at the University of Groningen with as a major Ecology and Evolution. After that, I started in 2015 with the international Ecology and Genetics master’s program at the University of Oulu. I studied population structure, genetic diversity and the effective population size of wolverines in Finland for my master’s thesis.
