About the project

The research undertaken in this project aims to develop efficient systems for the production of disulfide bond containing proteins in the cytoplasm of E.coli and combine these with systems under development for N-glycosylation and secretion of folded proteins to form second generation protein cell factories. Gen2Co would have the benefits of E.coli production systems plus those of eukaryotic expression systems in terms of PTM and allows the additional advantage of homogenous N-glycosylation status. Our system is already approaching levels of CHO for the production of aglycosylated full length antibodies.
