The University of Oulu and Ulm University have established an International Joint PhD Degree Programme. This is the first joint doctoral programme in the University of Oulu.
The students completing the Joint Doctoral Programme in Tissue Homeostasis: Development, Aging and Regeneration (TissueHome) will receive a doctoral degree, which is awarded jointly between the University of Oulu and the Ulm University.
The programme is coordinated by the Biocenter Oulu Doctoral Programme (BCO-DP) and by the International Graduate School in Molecular Medicine Ulm (IGradU). The programme is open for research communities in life science and biomedicine.
The signing of the ”TissueHome Rules of the Procedure” took place on September 25th, 2013 in the kick-off meeting of the programme in Liminka Bay Visitor Center. On behalf of the Ulm University, the document was signed by professor Thomas Wirth, Dean of the Medical Faculty, professor Michael Kühl, Chairman of IGradU and PD Dr. Dieter Brockmann, Managing Director of IGradU. The signers from the University of Oulu were Rector professor Lauri Lajunen, Vice Rector, Provost of Research professor Taina Pihlajaniemi, Dean of the University of Oulu Graduate School (UniOGS) professor Outi Savolainen, Scientific Director of Biocenter Oulu professor Johanna Myllyharju, and Director of BCO-DP professor Seppo Vainio.
