Biocenter Oulu is a member of Biocenter Finland, a national network of Finnish biocenters, promoting restructuring and development of research infrastructures and technology services in life sciences. Biocenter Oulu is the first biocenter established in Finland and it celebrated its 25th anniversary in August 2011.

Biocenter Oulu functions actively in strengthening the excellence of science and in developing high quality infrastructures to serve the broader science community. Already since 1995 Biocenter Oulu has had a doctoral program and altogether 299 PhDs and MD-PhDs have completed their doctoral studies.
