All the students registered to BCO Doctoral Programme are eligible to apply for travel grants. Financial support is available from us for courses and workshops in any country, as well as national and international conferences held in Finland. However, no grants are given for attending International Conferences and Symposia abroad. We also provide travel grants to support the students’ mobility for practical training visits in collaborators’ research institutes.

To apply, please send an informal application to ritva.saastamoinen (at) oulu.fi indicating:

1. Where you are going
2. When you are going (travel dates)
3. Why you are going
4. How the event is expected to benefit your Ph.D. research training project (important)
5. All costs for which you require BCO-DP funding (registration, accommodation, and approximate travel costs must be detailed) including ALV
6. A letter from your supervisor supporting your application for THIS event and confirming its interest for your studies (no grant will be given without this letter)

All students receiving a grant to attend a meeting are expected to present their results at the meeting: you should therefore also attach to your application an abstract of the results that you intend to present. When it is available, you should also send a copy of the program.

Do not pay anything until you have received a positive answer for the application: the decision can usually be made fairly rapidly, but it is strongly recommended to apply well in advance of any deadline.
