Research group description
The focus of the research on chemical and biochemical conversion in CPE is to develop pre-treatment and conversion processes for the manufacturing of biochemicals, biomaterials and advanced biofuels from lignocellulosic biomass. The key point of view is the sustainable use of biomass, meaning as comprehensive use of harvested biomass as possible and utilization of low valued and waste biomass sources. The view has widened into the inorganic materials related to biomass processing and bioprocess engineering.
Special feature is a close integration of research methods and perspectives from bioprocess engineering and chemical reaction engineering fields completed by process design and modelling activities.
