The Department of Geography of the University of Oulu is highly acknowledged academic community that consist high international profile researchers and professors, research groups and vivid teaching programs.
We produce Masters of Science (MSc) and Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) who place in good positions in both academic and other work life.
The annual intake for the degree program in Geography is 35 new students. The total number of students in the Department is approximately 250 undergraduates and 30 postgraduates. There are also 30‒40 other students studying Geography as a minor subject.
Teaching is based on the subjects of the research staff and performed by lectures, seminars, reading circles, book examinations, tutorials and field courses.
The degree programs of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science are in Finnish. However, the Department of Geography offers over 20 courses in English for our exchange students from European (Erasmus/Socrates) and other exchange programs.
