How to get in, what to study?

The degree programme in Geography is organized in Finnish language. It includes lower and higher academic degrees: Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc).

MSc in Geography

The degree of the MSc in Geography is in Finnish. However, students have possibility to apply to Master’s level studies in English. Premise for applying is that the student has Bachelor’s degree or equivalent lower academic degree (180 ECTS) from his/her home university. The degree must be in the field of Geography or other corresponding field. In such case, the student is asked to contact departmental student coordinator (amanuensis), Mr Topiantti Äikäs.

Exchange students

Annually, the Department of Geography welcomes a number of exchange students through exchange programmes such as ERASMUS, North-South-South, FIRST, Nordplus, ISEP. Some exchange students from the University of Oulu’s international partner institutions arrive through bilateral agreements, as well. The period of study typically takes one semester (4-5 months) or one academic year (9 months, two semesters).
