Museology

Museology studies museums, their operation, and socio-cultural relationships. It analyzes the past and examines the processes of retention, research, and communication as a part of human activity. Museology deals with the basics of museum work and its aims, the history and present state of the museum institution, and the practical operation of museums. Museums often consider the basic studies in museology (25 credits) as a prerequisite for job applicants. Studies in museology are also helpful for other professions concerned with old material culture, cultural work, and commercial antiques business.
