Oulu University Library customer service staff help customers with disabilities in matters regarding the use of the library's collections and facilities.

Accessibility in our libraries

The level of accessibility of the facilities varies in our libraries, e.g. due to the age of the buildings. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome in all our libraries.

Campus maps can be found in the Tuudo mobile application for students and Oulu Campus Navigator, which is a mobile application for navigation at Oulu university campuses. The application can be downloaded for free from Google Play and the App Store.

Pegasus Library

The library is located on the University of Oulu Linnanmaa campus on three floors. The library has an elevator that provides unobstructed access to the floors.
The Linnanmaa campus has an unobstructed entrance through the main doors (entrances C5, 2T, P and R). Entrance C5 is located closest to the library and there is also a disabled parking space nearby. See the Linnanmaa campus map (pdf).
Please note when using the entrances (A, B and C) in the "Pallopiha" courtyard: a taxi or an escort by car is allowed to stop near the entrances when bringing or picking up a person with reduced mobility. However, the route is not unobstructed due to the movable fences in the courtyard. These movable fences are light and may be moved aside when escorting a person with reduced mobility to the library by car. If necessary, please ask for assistance from the library customer service tel. 0294 483501. The entrance C (Oamk main entrance) has an electronic door opening button, but the entrance is not completely unobstructed.
The parking spaces on the Linnanmaa campus have marked disabled spaces.
The unobstructed access to the library is from the campus main passageway (Väylä) on the first floor. The library entrance is kept open when the library is open. See the Pegasus Library floor map (pdf).
Accessible toilets are located outside the library on the main passageway (Väylä) on both sides of the library.
The desks at the library customer service points are height-adjustable. Customer service staff can pick up materials from shelves for the customer.
There is an height-adjustable self-service check out machine on the first floor of the library. Computer for information searching on a height-adjustable table is located next to the course text book collection on the first floor.
There are adjustable desks for customer use on the first floor of the library (next to the newspaper reading area). On the second floor, there is one adjustable desk in the study area next to the stairs and another one in the storage space for the reading room loans (PK201).
