Invitation to the Thule Research Seminar and Workshop 2013 'Understanding Change in the North' and call for abstracts

Thule Research Seminar and Workshop 2013 is part of the activities of the Thule Institute's research and doctoral programmes.

It is an open discussion forum for doctoral and advanced master’s level students as well as their supervisors with the focus on topical northern and environmental issues. The workshop will provide essential knowledge about the best practices in managing scientific publishing and to improve research plan. See the programme here.

This annually arranged Thule Seminar and Workshop can serve as an obligatory part of the Research plan seminar of the UniOGS. In the seminar, the students will introduce their research and participate in scientific workshops. The goals are to give tools for active participation in scientific conferences, to introduce multidisciplinary approach and research items, and provide possibilities for networking.

The estimated work load totals up to 1 ECTS, certificates will be available on request.

Abstract submission - Submission deadline extended to September 2, 2013

All the participants are invited to submit a one page abstracts on their research / research plan. Language of the abstracts is English. All the abstracts will be published in the seminar abstract book and on the seminar web page.

The abstracts must be formulated according to the given template, which can be found in here (word file). The abstracts should be submitted by e-mail to thule (at) oulu.fi latest on September 2, 2013 (extended). Please indicate in the mail whether you prefer oral or poster presentation.

Costs and registration

Thule Research Seminar and Workshop 2013 is free of charge including all meals in the programme and accommodation in the Oulanka Research Station.
