Thule Institute is a research centre of the University of Oulu which focuses on multidisciplinary research on environmental and northern issues and natural resources.

Thule Institute's research program consists of fixed-term research groups.

The Institute also takes part in national and international research strategy work, aimed at focusing research and doctoral education on areas that are important and topical from the point of view of society.

The Institute arranges seminars and courses and provides information on environmental and northern issues.

The staff comprises 50 persons. In addtion, there are approx. 40 - 50 researchers and doctoral students working on research groups supported by the Thule Institute.
