University of Oulu has been nominated to the organizer of the next International Symposium on Cold Regions Development together with RIL - Finnish Association of Civil Engineers.
The International Symposium on Cold Regions Development (ISCORD) is arranged every third year with the main focus on issues related to activities in cold regions. The organization behind the conference series is the International Association for Cold Regions Development Studies (IACORDS). The objective of IACORDS is to decide through consultation the fundamentals related to organizing ISCORD and to promote research and higher education on cold regions.
The symposium in Oulu on 2019 will be 12th in the row. The previous symposium in Finland was part of the Finnish activities related to the International Polar Year 2007 - 2008.
The City of Oulu will be the stage for the next ISCORD conference on 2019. The venue was decided in the meeting of the Board of Directors of IACORDS (in the photo) in Incheon, South Korea before the opening of the ISCORD 2016.
