The Department of Mathematical Sciences is one of the oldest departments in the University of Oulu. In the Department of Mathematical Sciences, high quality research is carried out in a number of research groups. The Department is also a well-known and a successful educator of mathematics teachers.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers a wide variety of studies in mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. Expertise in mathematics and statistics merged with different minor subjects provides a wide range of  job possibilities.
