Nanostructured lignocelluloses
Our research focuses on a variety of new nanostructured biomaterials, their production, phenomena and applications. We are studying cellulose nanomaterials and a variety of other natural nanostructures, such as nanolignin, nanochitin and nanochitosan. We also reveal so called hybrid materials where lignocellulose is combined with other structures such as inorganic or bioactive materials.

Research group description
Biomaterial modification based on green chemistry, especially so-called deep eutectic solvents, is an important part of our research. We also develop sustainable and functional applications of nanostructured lignocelluloses for technical use, such as packaging and textile fibres, and new green electronics and biomedical materials.
