Biography

Hany Ferdinando received M.Sc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Twente, the Netherlands, in 2002. In 2014 he started his Doctoral research, working on the BullStop project to studying events containing violence based on the electrocardiography (ECG) samples classification. He also involves in a project funded by the Academy of Finland. The Finnish Cultural Foundation, the North-Ostrobothnia Regional Fund, funded his doctoral research in 2016 and 2017. Having expertise in signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, he developed a method to extract features from ultra-short-term ECG samples and decompose PPG pulse into several individual pulse waves that can be used to study arterial stiffness. Together with his colleagues in China, a method to extract features from 3D acceleration and gyroscope signals were extracted to recognize body motion.
