Health Information Practice and its Impact. The Context of Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity (HeIP) –hanke toteutettiin yhteistyössä Åbo Akademin informaatiotutkimuksen oppiaineen kanssa vuosina 2008-2012.

Improved Methods of Lifestyle Modification for Patients at High Risk for Metabolic Syndrome (PrevMetSyn) –konsortion alaprojekti 3 Utilization of Health Information Management (HIM) and Modern Information Technology (ICT) in the Prevention of Obesity. Kansanterveyden haasteet, SALVE-ohjelman rahoitus vuosina 2010-2012.

Terveystiedon käytännöt ja vaikuttavuus (Health Information Practice and its Impact, HeIP) –tutkimus sekä Terveystiedon hallinnan ja uuden tieto- ja viestintäteknologian hyödyntäminen lihavuuden ehkäisyssä –projekti lisäsivät terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin edistämisen ja elintapasairauksien ehkäisemisen teoreettista tietoa ja sovelluksia. Informaatiokäyttäytymisen, -käytäntöjen ja –ympäristöjen käsitteistöä integroitiin terveyspsykologian, -sosiologian ja terveydenedistämisen malleihin. Empiirisenä tutkimusympäristönä olivat liikapainon ehkäisyn lääketieteelliset interventiot, lihavien lasten hoitoketju, nuorten hyvinvointipalvelu sekä väestö aikuisista ikääntyneisiin. Tiedonhallinnan sykli kattoi seitsemän projektia: Tuottaminen (räätälöinti ja potilasarvo), organisointi (www-painonhallintapalvelut, informaatiokäyttäytyminen terveyskäyttäytymisen muutosvaihemallissa), ja käyttö (terveystiedon lukutaito, terveystietokäyttäytyminen ja elämänhallinta). Perustutkimuksen tuloksia hyödynnetään Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen vuonna 2013 palkitseman hyvinvointiportaalin (MOPO) suunnittelussa ja liikuntainterventiossa sekä terveystiedon lukutaidon seulontavälinettä sosiaali- ja terveysministeriön rahoittamassa ravitsemusinterventiossa (PrevMetSyn LINKKI ko. sivulle).
