Join us for Bloom with Japan, a fun and creative workshop where you can experience the charm of Japanese culture through origami!
In this activity, participants will fold colorful paper flowers and work together to create a big “Tree of Harmony”. The goal of this workshop is to let everyone enjoy Japanese traditional culture through origami while chatting and connecting with each other in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our student team (5–8 facilitators) will give easy step-by-step demonstrations, so everyone can join, even if it’s your first time doing origami. All materials - paper, glue, and the large tree base will be provided by the organizer.
We’ll also make sure the space is safe and comfortable for everyone, including children and people with mobility needs.
The workshop lasts about 60–90 minutes and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Come join us to learn, create, and connect through the beauty of Japanese culture!
Please note that the main language of the event is English The event is organized by volunteer students and staff members from the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences.

The University of Oulu, in collaboration with Oulu University of Applied Sciences, the Student Union of the University of Oulu, and the Student Union of Oulu University of Applied Sciences, is organizing the Festival of Cultures week to celebrate our multicultural community in Oulu and promote cultural awareness.
