The second part of the debate series focuses on technology. Technology permeates every aspect of modern life and shapes the way we communicate and interact with the world. As machines take over more tasks and we are left with more time for what matters most, concerns arise about the consequences of our dependence on technology. Should we embrace technology’s affordances, or approach them with more caution? Are we outsourcing essential human skills into technology? Are our critical thinking abilities diminishing? Should we even be worried about our writing skills?
The statement will be debated by entrepreneur in AI Mikko Alasaarela, Professor Sanna Järvelä, Professor Steven LaValle, and neuroscientist Katri Saarikivi. The debate will be moderated by Professor Roger Norum.
The debate series is organised by the Eudaimonia Institute. The events are open to everyone and there is no need to register in advance. The discussion will be streamed via our media partner kaleva.fi/live or University of Oulu YouTube channel. The link will updated here later.
