JunctionX Oulu Hackathon

On 23–25 October 2026 JunctionX Oulu will bring together ambitious students, developers, designers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to work on real business and technology challenges.

The goal is ambitious: 150–200 participants, working in teams of two to three, tackling real-world challenges set by partner companies and turning ideas into working prototypes in just 48 hours.

How it works

The event kicks off on 23 October at Technopolis, with an opening ceremony to welcome the participants and introduce the challenges. 24 October is dedicated to a full day of building, where teams dive deep into development, testing, and refining their ideas, with mentors on hand to help along the way. The event wraps up on 25 October with the grand final, where teams present their projects to a panel of judges representing the challenge partners, and the winners are announced.

More than just code

For students, JunctionX Oulu isn't only about who writes the best code and builds the best prototype. It's also about the people you meet, the skills you pick up, and the connections you make along the way. Sponsors, mentors, and judges from industry will be on-site throughout the weekend, offering guidance, feedback, and a glimpse into how real companies approach problem-solving.

Whether you're a first-time hackathon participant or a seasoned builder, there's a place for you here, and you don't need to have it all figured out beforehand. Curiosity and a willingness to try count for a lot.

None of this happens without the volunteer team working behind the scenes. From registration and hospitality to logistics and promotion, volunteers are what keep the event running smoothly and make it feel welcoming to everyone who walks through the door.
