Light and Shadows – An Art Lighting Exhibition as part of the Lumo Light Festival's regional programme

Lights and Shadows: An Art Lightning Exhibition is part of the University of Oulu's Oulu2026 Cultural Programme.

The exhibition consists of light artworks created in spring 2026 during a light art workshop involving University of Oulu students, staff members, and alumni. All the works on display are handmade, and each piece has been personally designed and crafted by its creator.

The exhibition explores life experiences through joy, sorrow, and adversity. In every moment, the opposite side is also present: light within the shadows and shadows within the light.

The laser-cut artworks cast patterns of light and shadow throughout a darkened corridor, transforming an ordinary university hallway into a space for light art. Each light artwork reflects its creator's personal perspective on the exhibition theme, while together they form a shared and community-driven whole.

The exhibition brings light art into the university campus environment. It is open to the public free of charge and is located in the F Corridor of the Linnanmaa Campus. We warmly welcome visitors to step into the world of light and shadow!

Lights and Shadows: An Art Lightning Exhibition will be on display from 4 November to 31 December 2026.

The exhibition is part of the University of Oulu's Lumo Art & Tech Festival programme and the Lumo Light Festival regional programme.
