The 11th Oulu Mining Summit will take place in Oulu, Finland, from 28 September to 2 October 2026. We look forward to welcoming participants from around the world to Oulu for a week of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation.

The week will begin with a two-day EPOS ON side event on 28–29 September 2026, followed by a one-day short course on the EIS QGIS Tool on 30 September 2026. The main conference will then be held on 1–2 October 2026, featuring presentations, discussions, networking opportunities, and the latest developments in Mineral Resources and Sustainable Mineral Exploration.

Mineral Resources and Sustainable Mineral Exploration

The conference will focus on the following themes:

  • Mineral resources in the Arctic and recent developments in the exploration industry
  • Sustainable mineral exploration methods and technology development
  • Education and capacity building in mineral exploration
  • European and regional policies and strategies supporting mineral exploration

About the Event

The transition towards a sustainable and resilient society requires a secure supply of critical and strategic raw materials. Mineral exploration plays a key role in identifying and developing future mineral resources while addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

This event aims to bring together a broad range of stakeholders across the mineral exploration ecosystem, including:

  • Research projects developing innovative exploration technologies
  • Exploration and mining companies
  • Universities and educational programmes
  • Representatives from the European Commission
  • Geological surveys and research organisations
  • Regional authorities and policymakers
  • Other stakeholders interested in the future of mineral exploration

The conference will provide a platform to discuss mineral resource potential, emerging technologies, current societal and environmental challenges, policy developments, and recent advances in sustainable exploration practices.

The event will be organized primarily as an on-site meeting, with remote participation available through an online connection.
