Unravelling Hidden Threads: Digital Journeys into Early Modern Textiles
The exhibition presents the work of the Horizon TEXTaiLES project, part of the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH). We invite visitors to explore how digital technologies can reveal the stories of historical textiles.
In the exhibition, visitors can see digital reconstructions of archaeological textiles from Turku Cathedral and Hailuoto Church, and we also present research on exceptionally well-preserved grave goods from the 17th and 18th centuries. Researchers from the University of Oulu have used imaging methods such as photogrammetry and microcomputed tomography to create detailed three-dimensional digital models of the garments.
