Arctic Frontiers Student Forum 2026 – Call for applications is open until 8 October

Join us for the 2026 edition of the Arctic Frontiers Student Forum. Take the opportunity to participate in and contribute to the dialogue about the Arctic, in the Arctic, by the Arctic! This acclaimed program is jointly organised by Arctic Frontiers and Háskóli Íslands, with generous support from the North Atlantic Cooperation (NORA) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

About the Forum

The Arctic Frontiers Student Forum provides a platform for young students to deepen their understanding of Arctic issues, provides space for an international and interdisciplinary dialogue, and potential networking opportunities with fellow students, academics and businesses. Are you a Bachelor’s or Master’s student between the age of 18 to 30? Are you interested in Arctic issues? Then this program is for you! Students enrolled in shorter program or similar levels are also eligible. The program is conducted in English only.

What to expect

The 2026 Student Forum brings together students from Northern Norway, Iceland, Northern Finland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Canada and Northern Sweden to Tromsø, Norway in conjunction with the Arctic Frontiers conference. During the program week the participants are given the opportunity to partake in cross-cultural exchange, expand their network, develop their own visions of the future of the Arctic and build new skills. Additionally, the participants will have the chance to take part in the 2026 Arctic Frontiers Conference: Turn of the Tide.

How to apply?

The program is fully funded and covers all costs including accommodation, registration to the 2026 Arctic Frontiers conference, travel and meals during the Student Forum week. Students enrolled at UiT- The Arctic university of Norway, Nord University, the Sámi University of Applied Science, University of Oulu, University of Lapland, Umeå University, Luleå University of Technology, University of Greenland, the University of the Faroe Islands, Hólar University, University of Iceland, are eligible to apply. We also invite anyone attending a Canadian educational institution, anyone who are from the Northern Areas of Canada (see definition at our homepage), or who is an Indigenous knowledge holder based in Canada to apply.
