Change to student MFA authentication for internal network 23 March 2026

Students' MFA practice changes so that strong authentication is also asked when logging in with an MS account on the university's or Oamk's internal network. In the past, there was no need for strong authentication for an internal network connection.

When logging in to the internal network, you can use the methods you specified earlier for strong MFA authentication.

In addition to your own devices, the change also applies to computers in study facilities and IT Device Vendors. The change will come into effect for students on 23 March 2026. This feature is already in use by the staff.

If you have the Authenticator app installed on your phone, you will receive a verification request on the internal network. Accept or alternatively reject the request.

  • If you don't have the Authenticator app yet, install it.
  • If you don't have a smartphone, you can alternatively acquire a FIDO2 key from computer service companies.
  • See instructions: Multi-step authentication MFA.
