Climate change and Biodiversity Loss in Focus at Kvantum Institute’s AIS2025 Conference Session

The Kvantum Institute organised a session titled 'Multidisciplinary Solutions to the Climate Change and Biodiversity Challenges' at the 47th Association for Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) conference (Shaping the Future in the Era of Polycrisis), held in Oulu in June 2025.

During the scientific session, six multidisciplinary research presentations were delivered, each addressing the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss from different perspectives. The programme opened with a keynote speech by senior researcher Simo Sarkki, who explored the potential of co-creating nature-based solutions for managing and governing polycrises.

The session, organised by the Kvantum Institute, attracted a full room of interested participants and sparked discussion on the importance of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches in tackling global environmental challenges.

The AIS2025 conference was held at the Linnanmaa campus in Oulu from 4 to 6 June 2025. The theme of the conference was “Shaping the Future in the Era of Polycrisis”. The event was jointly organised by the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The conference brought together people working in multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research and education.
