Finanssi ry celebrates 35 years and names business school person of the year

The 35th anniversary of Finanssi ry, the student association of Oulu Business School, was celebrated at its annual ball in October.
Representatives of Oulu Business School and Oulun Ekonomit were invited by the board of Finanssi ry to celebrate the student association’s 35th anniversary.

The academic evening celebration included a dinner, speeches, and an opportunity for Finanssi ry members and invited guests to come together. Each year, the event also recognises the business school person of the year. This year's honour was awarded to university teacher Juha Huikari.

During his 40-year university career, Huikari has held a variety of teaching roles, serving as a university teacher for the past 15 years. In recent years, he has been responsible for courses including Accounting and Income Statements, Financial Statement and Tax Planning, and Financial Statement Analysis.

“I see this recognition from the student association as positive student feedback and, at the same time, as a kind of lifetime achievement award for the many courses I have taught over the course of a fairly long teaching career,” says Huikari.

Participants from OBS praised the celebration highly.

“Our student association Finanssi ry organised a wonderful event, where a record-breaking 400 participants enjoyed an excellent programme, great company, and delicious food late into the evening. My warm thanks go to everyone involved in organising the occasion,” says Sauli Sohlo, Development Manager at OBS.

“It was a pleasure to join the celebrations of Finanssi ry’s long and meaningful journey for the first time in my role as Vice Dean for Education. It was inspiring to see and hear how a strong sense of community and collaboration was reflected in virtually everything throughout the event. My sincere thanks to Finanssi for organising such a memorable celebration,” says Marika Iivari, Vice Dean for Education at OBS.
