Matti Alatalo is the new chair of the University Collegium
Matti Alatalo is a professor of theoretical physics working in the Nano and Molecular Systems Research Unit (NANOMO) in the Faculty of Science. Alatalo has previously served as a professor at Lappeenranta–Lahti University of Technology LUT. He is also the chair of the local chapter of the Finnish Union of University Professors.
Juha Ahola is a long-serving member of the university community and works as a University Lecturer in Chemical Process Engineering at the Faculty of Technology, specialising in biomass conversion and reaction kinetic modelling. He has also served as a member of the collegium during previous terms.
Leea Putula is a fifth-year medical student and a long-standing student union activist. She also served as vice-chair of the collegium during the previous term.
The University Collegium is a 24-member body in which various groups of the university community are represented. Its role is, among other things, to confirm the university's financial statements and annual report, and to decide on the number of members of the board and length of term.
