Milla Tiri began her term as Chair of Finanssi ry at the beginning of the year

The new Chair of Finanssi ry, fourth-year student Milla Tiri, has been an active participant in student organization activities even before taking on the role of Chair. She has previously served as an education policy officer, been involved in the project committee, worked as a tutor and mentor, and represented students in the Student Council in the Student Union.

The Chair of Finanssi ry is responsible for leading the activities of the board and ensuring that agreed matters progress as planned. She is in charge of organizing board meetings and works actively with stakeholders. One of the most important responsibilities is also to serve as Finanssi’s representative in the KPV, the network of business student association chairs.

As a newly elected Chair, Milla Tiri's first priority is to address areas for development together with the board and to engage in discussions on how Finanssi’s activities should be developed during the current year. One of the board’s key objectives is to develop the association’s activities with the interests of its members in mind; as a concrete example, she mentions reviewing events to better match the current needs of Finanssi’s members.

Another goal is to ensure that the workload of board members is distributed evenly. The Chair aims to make sure that no one is overburdened, as participation in student organization activities must be balanced with making progress in one’s own studies.

She highlights the integration of international students into Finanssi and Oulu Business School as a continuous and important goal. Efforts will also be made to further develop alumni activities during the current year. “I also see it as important to update the equality and non-discrimination plan during this year. That is my own personal project,” she adds.

The Chair also has a message for students and staff: “I want to contribute to strengthening cooperation between the faculty and students. It is important to strive to understand each other and to find common ground in different matters.”

Alongside new challenges, the year 2026 will also continue with her studies in the International Business Management master’s programme. In addition to university life, the Chair also finds time for work, spending time at the cottage, sports, and being with loved ones.
