Oulu Business School and Outokumpu begin collaboration
Representatives of Oulu Business School visited Outokumpu’s Kemi mine and Tornio stainless steel plant in October. The discussions continued shortly afterwards at a collaboration meeting held at the University of Oulu, where several new initiatives related to research and education were explored.
Oulu Business School educates experts and future leaders and conducts multidisciplinary research to support the needs of Northern Finland and society at large. Outokumpu is the global leader in sustainable stainless steel.
“Outokumpu is a highly interesting partner for us, and we have identified several areas of shared interest, including change management, the circular economy, and business analytics. Our aim is to build on these themes and develop research and educational collaboration that benefits both parties,” says Timo Pohjosenperä, Key Account Manager at Oulu Business School.
“Our collaboration has previously been built mainly on strong expertise in materials engineering and metallurgy. It was valuable to hear about the key focus areas of representatives from different faculties and to discuss where our cooperation could be further deepened. The discussions were eye-opening, and it is encouraging that we can now move interdisciplinary collaboration forward in a determined way at a strategic level,” says Jari Tikkanen, Head of Tornio stainless steel plant at Outokumpu.
