Oulu Business School call for students tutors for new students is open until 8.2.2026
The call for OBS Student Tutors for international programmes and Student Tutors (Kummi) for exchange students is now open and continues until the 8th of February 2026! Below you can see the tasks and responsibilities of a Tutor student.
What are the tasks and responsibilities of a Student Tutors?
- meeting the new students at the end of August (orientation begins 24.8.2026) / at the beginning of January (only for Student Tutors of Spring exchange students), welcoming them, helping them settle down and introducing the Finnish culture to them
- organizing tutoring sessions with other groups as well as with the Finnish-speaking small groups
- help the students get to know other students and the university community and campus
- helping the students with study-related questions
Why should you be a Student Tutor for international and exchange students?
- easy way to get to know new cultures and practice language skills
- great opportunity to get new friends from all over the globe
- if you’re planning exchange studies yourself, tutoring is a great way to prepare for them
- you get a certificate and paid for being a Tutor
Recommendations for Student Tutor:
- You are a responsible person
- Your studies are progressing as planned
It is essential that a Student Tutor is motivated and eager to guide new freshmen and participate in different activities with your students!
As a Student Tutor, you will be required to participate in the trainings in Spring 2026, held before May. Tutor students are also required to meet their students at the end of August when they arrive, and they need a tutor. Additionally, the Student Tutors for exchange students of Spring 2027 must be present at the beginning of January 2027. You may also receive questions from students in the spring/summer.

Compensation:
Student Tutors are paid 14,10 € per hour. Student Tutors for international programmes and exchange students are paid for a maximum of 20 hours, minimum 10 hours. If you have other working tasks for University (for example entrance exam supervision, Ambassador tasks or similar), notice that the total invoiced hours cannot exceed 35 hours per semester.
You will also get an electronic badge.
Student tutors are required as follows:
- For exchange students
- 10 Student Tutors for autumn semester 2026 and
- 5 Student Tutors for spring semester 2027
- For International Master’s programmes: 8-10 Student Tutors
- Business Analytics
- IBM
- FMA
- Economics
- Sustainable Marketing
- Finance
- For International Bachelor’s programme in International Business Management:
- 4 Student Tutors
- CV in PDF format (including picture of yourself)

- Student tutor applicants for international programmes and exchange students: Welcoming letter introducing yourself to the tutoring group.

The selections will be based on application documents and interviews. Tutor interviews will be held at the university during week 8. The selection decisions will be announced in week 9.
