Oulu Business School improves its performance in Times Higher Education ranking

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed the University of Oulu and Oulu Business School in the 251–300 range among the world’s top universities. This year’s ranking included around 2,200 universities out of 20,000 universities worldwide.

The results show that Oulu Business School has improved its performance in several areas since last year, including teaching, research environment, collaboration with industry, and international outlook. The international ranking range and national position remain the same as last year.

Universities are evaluated across five key areas. Teaching focuses on the quality of the learning environment, while the research environment is assessed based on research volume, income, and reputation. Research quality is evaluated through citations, research strength, excellence, and influence. International outlook considers staff, students, and research collaboration, and industry engagement is reflected in, e.g., external industry funding.

In the overall ranking, teaching accounts for roughly one-third and research for about two-thirds of the total score. Industry collaboration and international outlook contribute approximately ten percent of the total weight.
