Oulu residents invited to open dialogue with city leaders on community safety
Oulu residents are invited to attend an open dialogue with City of Oulu leaders and the police on Friday, 24 April, at Oulu City Hall. The event is organized at the initiative of the Oulu Immigrant Council in response to growing concerns about public safety following the most recent stabbing incident in Raksila.
The purpose of the dialogue is to provide a respectful, inclusive forum where residents can share concerns, ask questions, and engage directly with representatives from the city and the police. The Oulu Immigrant Council welcomes this opportunity for constructive and collaborative discussion, ensuring that diverse voices across the community are heard.
The discussion will focus on the following key questions:
- What is the City’s response to the recent stabbing in Raksila?
- How does the City plan to address the pattern of violent incidents affecting immigrant residents?
- What concrete measures are being implemented to ensure that all residents of Oulu can go about their daily lives safely and without fear?
- Given the nature and pattern of these incidents, does the City acknowledge that racism constitutes a serious and growing problem in Oulu? If so, is the City prepared to publicly recognize and address this issue?
Residents from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend and contribute to an open, solution-oriented dialogue aimed at strengthening safety, trust, and community cohesion in Oulu.
