Oulu then and now – literature, old postcards and memories of the city from the collections of the Oulu University Library

Hurray for Oulu2026! In honor of Oulu's year as the European Capital of Culture, there will be a changing exhibition on Oulu-themed library materials in the lobby on the second floor of Pegasus Library for the rest of the year.
Vanhoja Oulu-aiheisia postikortteja Oulun yliopiston kirjaston kokoelmista.

The exhibition will open with a display of Oulu-themed fiction books, an Oulu-themed jigsaw puzzle, and a display of old Oulu-themed postcards that will take you on a journey back in time to Oulu at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The postcards are part of a large collection of postcards and other materials that was donated to the library, possibly in the 1960s. The postcards also feature a QR code to an interactive presentation created with ThingLink, in which the images on the postcards are placed on an old map of downtown Oulu. The ThingLink presentation is available in Finnish and English.
