Participate in the competition and design a pullover for the University of Oulu

Rules of the competition

The pullover design competition is open to everyone. Participants in the competition must design a pullover that reflects, for example, the characteristics, values or attitudes of the University of Oulu. The design should be for adults. You can only participate in the competition with your own design that has not been published before. The pullover must be possible with wool yarns (wool or mixed wool) containing domestic wool (for example, Vuonue’s Manta, Louhittaren luola’s Kytöläinen or Novita’s Suomivilla). The design must have two or three colours.

A panel will select the winner from the designs submitted in the competition. The instructions of the winning design will be published as open knitting instructions.

The design rights of the winner will be transferred to the University of Oulu. The organiser of the competition has the right to modify the winning design to suit the knitting instructions in cooperation with the designer. The University of Oulu will publish the winning knit’s instructions on its different communication channels.

Prizes

The winner of the competition will get €300 design award.

In addition to the winner, the panel will give three participants in the competition an honorary mention and a prize of 50 euros. Additionally, 3 brand products of the University of Oulu will be given out in a raffle among all participants in the competition.

How to participate in the competition

Send your pullover design and its appendices by email with a title “Neulekilpailu” by 14 February 2023 to sanna.m.kamarainen@oulu.fi. You can use a ready-made design template for your design and a grid for illustrating the pattern. It is not necessary to test the pullover’s design by knitting, as the jury will assess and test the feasibility of the model.
