Phone call will be removed as a multi-factor authentication (MFA) method on September 15th due to security reasons.

We use multi-factor authentication (MFA) for M365 sign-in, which means that when you log in, you need to verify via your phone that it is really you signing in.

For verification, we recommend the Authenticator mobile app as the primary option for everyone, as it is the most secure option from the information security perspective. Additionally, Authenticator enables passwordless sign-in.

Besides Authenticator, we have also offered phone call or text message as verification methods. For security reasons, we will remove phone call as a verification method on September 15, 2025. The text message option will remain available for students and guests. The SMS option is necessary if you do not have a smartphone where you can install the Authenticator app.
