Professor Emeritus Tadashi Matsumoto receives IEICE Education Award
The award recognises long-term contributions to education in electronics, information and communication engineering.
“This award reflects the work and commitment of many colleagues I have had the privilege to work with over the years. I am grateful to my research collaborators and to those who have supported me in academic and administrative work,” says Professor Matsumoto upon receiving the news of the award.
“Professor Matsumoto has a long-standing connection with the University of Oulu. He worked here first as a professor and later as a part-time professor under the Finland Distinguished Professor Programme. During that period, he contributed to our wireless communications research and doctoral education, supervising several doctoral theses and collaborating with the Centre for Wireless Communications,” says Professor Markku Juntti, leader of 6G Flagship’s Wireless Connection research.
Now Professor Emeritus, Matsumoto has remained connected to the Oulu research community. The IEICE award highlights the lasting educational impact of his academic work and its role in shaping generations of researchers in wireless communications, including those working today in Oulu’s 6G research environment.
